HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016
|Dr. Balu Chandra|
VPA President & Trustee 2016-2017
|Fellow VPA Members|
Welcome to 2016!
I am proud, humbled, and excited for VPA during this era of "change and evolution" as the new norm. I thank you all for your overwhelming encouragement, support, and for entrusting me as your President. I consider this a privilege and honor. I promise to carry out the duties to the best of my ability.
We are all very lucky and blessed to be part of the Vokkaliga family. Celebrating Vokkaliga Heritage and bonding amongst us is festive and truly euphoric with a sense of joy and security. By exemplifying and mirroring our culture it is our duty to instill these values for future generations.
My vision is in line with our founders. Our bonds of friendship should be the backbone of our social structure as well as being there for one another unconditionally. Our societal, spiritual, religious or political views may be different but being a proud Vokkaliga and celebrating its heritage is in our DNA! Let's not hold back - instead let's be proud of it like peacocks! Vokkaligas always walk with their head and chest high. Our opinions are loud and clear. I urge you to instill these ancient eastern heritage values in our kids as they grow in the more modern western culture we live in. As you teach your children philosophy, poetry, and politics, instill in them that there are no hurdles for a Vokkaliga to overcome.
Your forward thinking leadership is committed to take VPA to new heights. We are well aware that over 4,000 VPA families have relegated us to represent them. We promise to work for the association's greater good and denounce any personal agenda or bias.
I ask you to pledge your support and strengthen the organization by actively participating, recruiting new families, volunteering in communities you live in, and being generous in giving, especially during difficult times. I encourage you to become life members. We can do this, but only together.
We always look forward to your suggestions and your constructive criticisms, if any. We are all volunteering our valuable time and our heart is in the right place.
In the aeon of global gender equality, I am elated to announce that, women presidents govern all four chapters of our association!
Over the next month, I will be working with my leadership team formulating our missions, strategies and goals. We will keep you all informed through newsletters and our Web page.
I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know each one of you. As we celebrate and rejoice the New Year please appreciate the richness of our life and heritage. Let gratitude in us rise and let the waves of kindness wash us. Have a Blessed 2016.
Lastly, we in TEXAS have BIG HEARTS! We invite you to our next Mega Convention in Dallas, TX during the 4th of July weekend in 2017. Please mark your calendars and come celebrate our heritage with us!
Thank you again for your kindness and support.
