Kick-Off meeting on October 30 from 12-3PM for 12th VPA National Convention

The convention committee met at Anjanappa's house this Saturday and the following (in no particular order) people participated:

Dr. Anasuya Swamy, Srinivas Gowda, Dr. Sreenivas, Leela Gopalakrishna, Sujatha Gowda, Nalini Anjanappa, Padmini, Krishna Reddy, Dr. Gopalkrishna, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Sriram, Prabhu Gowda, Deepak Budaguppe, Ashwini Anjanappa, Dr. Gayathri Prabhakar, Prabhakar, Dr. Seetharam Gowda, Swaroop Gowda, B.K. Narayanaswamy, Muddappa Rangappa, Bhagya Rangappa, Shree Shivaiah, Dr. Anuradha Reddy, Vasumathi Shivaiah, Nagaraj Reddi, Bangalore Chandraiah, and Geetha Rajagopal. In addition Dr. SriSai Gowda participated over the phone.

Here is the summary:

• Venue of "Sheraton Baltimore City Center" was discussed and majority of the people had positive feedback based on their previous visit to the hotel for AKKA and a Wedding in the community.
• The following Committee coordinators were selected:
  • Awards and Recognition Committee: Dr. Sreenivas
  • CME Committee - Dr. Anuradha Reddy
  • Finance Committee: Dr. Gopalakrishna
  • Food Committee: Mr. Prabhu Gowda
  • Hospitality Committee: Mr. Muddappa Rangappa
  • Meravanige Committee: Dr. Leela Sreenivas
  • Program Committee: Dr. Seetharam Gowda
  • Publicity Committee: Dr. Srisai Gowda
  • Registration and Reception Committee: Ms. Sujatha Gowda
• Other committes: Pending consent from coordinators
• The Committee Coordinators have already a list of committee members in each committee. In addition, VPA-Central, VPA-South, and VPA-West will select one representative from their chapter for each committee. Also, the committee coordinators will solicit more committee members. If you are interested in participating in any committee or if you want to suggest a name, please do so by either directly contacting the committee coordinator or myself or any office bearer.
• The committee coordinators will complete their team and begin planning work and we have set up the next meeting:
  • Meeting Date: December 4, 2010
  • Time: Noon time
  • Venue: TBD. I or Gayathri will send the details by email.
• Dr. Gayathri Prabhakar was selected as Convention Co-Chair and Mr. Nagaraj Reddi was selected as Convention Treasurer. Both of them have served VPA both as active participants and office-bearers of VPA-East in the past.
• Last but not the least, thanks to Dr. Anasuya Swamy, Bhagya Rangappa, Dr. Gayathri Prabhakar, Leela Gopalakrishna, Nalini Anjanappa, Swaroop Gowda, and Dr. Vijayalakshmi Sriram; we enjoyed food especially Raagi mudde, Baadu saaru, Kajjaaya.
