GLOBAL VIRTUAL OPEN INNOVATION HACKATHON

OVERVIEW

Objective:
To engage youth in solving real-world problems aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and VPA Objectives – SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 4: Quality Education – through open innovation, collaboration, and technology.

Target Participants:

  • Age Group: 14–24 years
  • Eligible Groups: College students, early-career professionals, young entrepreneurs.
    • Mode: Virtual
    • Last Date to Send Nominations: June 28, 2025
    • Team Size: 1–5 members

THEMES & PROBLEM STATEMENTS

1. Zero Hunger (SDG 2)

  • AI-driven crop forecasting for small farmers
  • Apps for reducing food wastage at schools/hostels
  • Community-based nutrition distribution models
  • Traceable food supply chains using blockchain
  • EdTech to teach sustainable agriculture practices

2. Quality Education (SDG 4)

  • Inclusive remote learning for rural students
  • Gamification of literacy and numeracy for children
  • Skill-building platforms for dropouts or informal sector youth
  • Tools to assist differently-abled learners
  • AI tutors for regional language learners

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To participate in the competition, you must complete all of the following items by June 25, 2025:

  • Fill out the Registration Form one per team member
  • To submit your proof concept, the team should clearly demonstrate the idea works at a basic level and solve the problem targeted
    1. Create a Powerpoint or Google Slides presentation explaining your idea and problem statement. List technologies used and architectural diagrams/wireframes.
    2. Provide a demo of your prototype with a video walkthrough.
    3. Shortlisted teams will be asked for github repo link and readme.md file.
  • Send your submission with team name in subject line along with presentation and demo video attachment to hackathon@myvpa.org
